Key Benefits

// Consistent, long-term weed control: Rezilon is a pre-emergence herbicide for annual grass and broadleaf weed control. It is labeled for use in warm-season bermudagrass and bahiagrass pastures or hay fields.

// Increased hay quality: When Rezilon is applied according to label directions, growers could see higher-quality forage on their first cut as a result of controlling annual weed species present.

// Long residual activity: Rezilon should be applied well before weed emergence. Once applied, Rezilon can sit on the soil surface for some time with no degradation from sunlight while waiting on rainfall for activation.

Use & Control

// For year-round annual grass control, make one application of 3 oz/A in the late winter and another 3 oz/A in the late summer.

// Apply Rezilon herbicide at 3-5 fl oz/A in late winter (January - February) to control summer annual weeds.

// Apply 3-5 fl oz/A following a late summer (August - September) cutting for winter annual weed control.

// Do not exceed 6 fl oz/A of Rezilon in a 12-month period with sequential applications.

// When Rezilon herbicide is applied at a rate greater than 3 fl oz/A, hay may not be harvested until 40 days after application.

// There are no grazing restrictions following the application of Rezilon herbicide.

// Factors including soil type, rainfall and the amount of vegetation surface debris and the time of treatment may affect weed control.

// If the herbicide is not activated by rainfall prior to germination, control will be reduced.

// Rezilon is a preemergent herbicide that requires an activating rainfall or irrigation (0.25-0.5”) to be effective. Additionally, it will only provide effective control in areas covered by the target rate. Annual weed escapes will occur if coverage is uneven or if a lower effective rate is applied between spray swaths.

Is It Too Late? - Maximize Success With a Pre-emergent Herbicide

  1. Early is “On Time”
    • Pre-emergent herbicides such as Rezilon™ are not meant to control emerged weeds, as the active ingredient is a root inhibitor and works to prevent seedling germination in the top ½” to 1” of the soil. Applications of Rezilon should be made before the target weed begins to germinate in order to prevent in-season weed seed germination.
  2. Tank mix to target winter weeds
    • Weather does not always cooperate and can create delays in herbicide application plans. When delays occur, target weeds may already be germinating, or even emerged, at the time of herbicide application. In these situations, you can increase your herbicide program success by incorporating tank mix partners to target emerged weeds.

Tank mix partners:

  1. Roundup® (4 lb) at 8-10 fl oz/A
  2. Pastora® at 1-1.5 oz/A
  3. Cimarron® Plus at 0.5 oz/A or higher
  4. Plateau® (imazapic) at 6-8 fl oz/A –
  5. *The options above may not work if the user has species that are resistant to the particular mode of action. Roundup, Pastora, and Plateau may cause yellowing and stunting to Bermuda
  6. Paraquat (Gramoxone®) – 1-2 pts/A (this is a restricted-use pesticide)

Tank mixtures: The applicable labeling for each product must be in the possession of the user at the time of application. Follow applicable use instructions, including application rates, precautions and restrictions of each product used in the tank mixture. Not all tank mix product formulations have been tested for compatibility or performance other than specifically listed by brand name. Always predetermine the compatibility of tank mixtures by mixing small proportional quantities in advance. ©2020 Bayer Group. Always read and follow label instructions.
