What is Esplanade EZ?
Esplanade EZ is a non-selective, preemergence and postemergence herbicide that combines three different herbicides to provide quick knockdown and up to six months of residual control of more than 40 grassy and broadleaf weeds.
What are the active ingredients in Esplanade EZ herbicide?
Esplanade EZ contains indaziflam, diquat dibromide and glyphosate isopropylamine salt.
How does Esplanade EZ work?
The ingredients in Esplanade EZ herbicide control weeds by three modes of action. Indaziflam inhibits cellulose biosynthesis in plants, which reduces the emergence of seedlings. Diquat is a fast-acting herbicide that works by disrupting cell membranes and interfering with photosynthesis. Glyphosate stops the plant from producing an enzyme it needs to make protein for proper growth.
Where can Esplanade EZ be applied?
Esplanade EZ herbicide provides non-selective control of emerged and preemerged grasses and broadleaf weeds in non-crop areas such as paths, parking lots, curbs, sidewalks, driveways, around buildings and educational facilities, mulched and gravel areas, loading ramps, storage yards, vacant lots, railroad and rail yards, managed roadsides, fence rows, utilities, parks, hardscapes (including cracks and crevices), and other industrial, municipal and government sites.
What grasses and broadleaf weeds does Esplanade EZ control?
Esplanade EZ herbicide controls more than 40 grassy and broadleaf weeds, including the following. See the product label for a complete list.
Grasses: Cheatgrass, crabgrass, giant foxtail, goosegrass, perennial ryegrass and more
Broadleaves: Common chickweed, henbit, kochia, marestail, spotted spurge, white clover, wild mustard and more
When is the best time to apply Esplanade EZ herbicide?
Apply Esplanade EZ herbicide when weeds are small and actively growing when temperatures are above 60°F and it is sunny. Certain hard-to-control weeds may be re-treated in 2 weeks using spot application if necessary.
Does Esplanade EZ need to be watered in to be effective?
Watering is not required to activate Esplanade EZ herbicide, except under drought conditions. In those cases, it should be watered in within 7 days of application, which is the general standard with preemergence herbicides.
Can Esplanade EZ be used around ornamentals?
Avoid contact of Esplanade EZ herbicide with foliage, stems, green bark, or exposed/bare roots of turfgrasses, trees, shrubs, or other desirable vegetation, since severe damage may result. If spraying areas adjacent to desirable plants with Esplanade EZ, use a shield while spraying to help prevent spray from contacting foliage of desirable plants. If the spray accidentally contacts a desirable plant, rinse it off immediately with water.
What is the shelf life of Esplanade EZ?
Esplanade EZ herbicide has a 3-year shelf life from the date of purchase if stored away from extreme temperatures.
What is the mix rate for Esplanade EZ in a 3-gallon jug?
The mix rate for Esplanade EZ herbicide is 8 fl. oz. to 16 fl. oz. per gallon of water, depending on the grasses or weeds you are treating. For a 3-gallon sprayer, mix 24 fl. oz. to 48 fl. oz. total. Please refer to the product label for detailed mix rate recommendations.
